Angelo has 15 plus years of experience in the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist compliance arena. He worked twelve years for FINTRAC, seven of them as Regional Compliance Manager for the Eastern Region. In this capacity, he supervised a staff of ten compliance officers tasked with delivering a suite of compliance activities to reporting entities The main purpose of the work of the compliance officers was to ensure that reporting entities were meeting their various obligations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (the Act) and its attendant Regulations.

Angelo left FINTRAC in 2017 to become the CAMLO for Quebec's largest independent money services business. In his role as CAMLO, he manages the design, development and implementation of all aspects of the AML/ATF compliance programme ensuring that it meets all of the federal and provincial obligations applicable to the business. Since joining the organization, Angelo has re-evaluated and updated all of the existing AML/ATF policies and procedures, including the risk assessment, reorganized the AML Department and updated the training program.

Angelo is also an AML/ATF consultant. His clients as an AML/ATF consultant include money services businesses, dealers in precious metals and stones and dealers in virtual currencies, real estate agents and British Columbia notaries. He provides them with a full suite of compliance services, including designing a compliance regime from the ground up, compliance effectiveness review, gap analysis, AML/ATF training for frontline staff, senior management and CAMLOs and assisting during a regulatory examination. Angelo has also provided expert witness testimony for the lawyers representing a Canadian-based financial institution named as a defendant in a multi-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme in a Texas lawsuit.

Angelo has been invited to speak at several AML conferences on such topics as FINTRAC compliance examinations, how to implement a risk assessment testing the effectiveness of the compliance regime and the legislative changes which came into effect on June 1st, 2021.
